| In addition to collaborating with local public television stations, ITVS’ Community Connections Project partners with the following PTV organizations on community engagement campaigns. National Center for Outreach (NCO) http://www.nationaloutreach.org NCO's overriding goal is to assist public television stations to provide meaningful outreach to local communities, helping to foster and deepen existing community partnerships. - The Minority Consortia - The Minority Consortia is made up of five ethnic organizations funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) to champion films about specific minority cultures. Read about each of the five organizations below: Latino Public Broadcasting (LPB) http://www.lpbp.org LPB supports the development, production, acquisition and distribution of educational and cultural programming that is representative of Latino people or addresses issues of interest to Latino Americans. LPB has teamed with ITVS to present projects such as SEÑORITA EXTRAVIADA; FOTO-NOVELAS; EVERY CHILD IS BORN A POET and LA LUPE: A Mirror Of The Times. National Asian American Telecommunications Association (NAATA) http://www.naatanet.org NAATA’s mission is to present stories that convey the richness and diversity of the Asian Pacific American experience. Projects NAATA has funded in conjunction with ITVS include DAUGHTER FROM DANANG and REFUGEE. National Black Programming Consortium (NBPC) http://www.nbpc.tv NBPC is devoted to the preservation, production, distribution and promotion of videos and films about African Americans and the experiences of the African diaspora. Recent outreach projects it supported with ITVS include TWO TOWNS OF JASPER; RALPH ELLISON: An American Journey; SWEET OLD SONG; FLAG WARS and CHISHOLM FOR PRESIDENT ’72. Native American Public Telecommunications (NAPT) http://www.nativetelecom.org NAPT’s mission is to inform, educate and encourage the awareness of tribal histories, cultures, languages, opportunities and aspirations of American Indians and Alaska natives by providing educational and public telecommunications programs and services. NAPT paired with ITVS to fund PEPPER’S POW WOW; WARRIOR: The Life of Leonard Peltier; THE GREAT AMERICAN FOOT RACE and MARIA TALLCHIEF: The Firebird. Pacific Islanders in Communications (PIC) http://www.piccom.org PIC was created to increase broadcast programming by and about indigenous Pacific Islanders. Some joint PIC-ITVS projects are RISING WATERS: Global Warming And The Fate Of The Pacific Islands; HEART OF THE SEA; AMERICAN ALOHA: Hula Beyond Hawaii and SUMO EAST AND WEST. |
