    Nanfu Wang

    Nanfu Wang is an award-winning filmmaker based in New York City. Her latest feature documentary I Am Another You premieres at SXSW 2017 in the documentary feature competition. Her feature debut Hooligan Sparrow was shortlisted for the 2017 Academy Award for best documentary feature. Wang was honored by the International Documentary Association with Show more the 2016 Emerging Filmmaker Award. Originally from a remote village in China, Wang overcame poverty and lack of access to formal secondary education and went on to earn three master’s degrees from Shanghai University, Ohio University, and New York University in English Literature, Media Studies, and Documentary respectively.     Jialing Zhang

    Jialing Zhang is an independent Chinese filmmaker based in Massachusetts. She directed and produced feature documentaries >Complicit (Human Rights Watch Film Festival in London, 2017) and One Child Nation (Sundance 2019, Grand Jury Prize Winner). She holds a master’s degree from New York University.

    The Film

    The birth of Chinese filmmaker Nanfu Wang’s first child was a life changing experience that caused her to become interested in uncovering the untold history of China's One-Child policy for the generations of mothers and children whose lives have been forever changed by this haphazard, draconian governmental social experiment.
