Protecting Our Future and Charting the Course Ahead
We are sharing the sad and difficult news that ITVS is reducing its staff by 13 individuals across the organization. For a staff so committed to our mission and to each other, this 20% staff reduction is a painful moment. Our dedicated staff have made important contributions that are part of ITVS' legacy and success story.
In the past few months, ITVS has shared with our community of independent producers, supporters, and documentary funders the many threats facing public media and our CPB funding. The ongoing funding uncertainty, combined with a shifting documentary distribution landscape, forced us to examine how we can protect ITVS’ future and the vital role of independent voices in public media in service to the American people.
In May we shared the following commitments and updates about our upcoming year, and they remain unchanged:
Payments to independent producers will continue as scheduled within their agreements.
We will continue to present ITVS-supported programs to the American public.
Our next Open Call will be scheduled to reopen in the winter.
We will delay the relaunch of our development fund to 2026.
While we cannot predict the outcome of ongoing funding threats, we will continue to protect the mission of ITVS and the incredible programs made by, about, and for people in communities across the country.
